At many websites, you may have noticed the live tweets showing in the sidebar or any other place. Have you ever wondered how can you show live tweets on a website?

If you’re a WordPress user then the first thing which can come to your mind is the plugin. It’s obvious because you can accomplish every task using the plugins.

But how would you display live tweets on a website without any plugin? Do you have any idea?

In this tutorial, you will learn the best and the easiest way to embed the live tweets on your website, This is something I have always wanted to know about.

Use Twitter Widgets To Show Live Tweets On a Website

You have to take a few steps which can help you to show a nice widget on the sidebar of your website.

Step 1:- Login to your Twitter account and go to Settings>>Widgets. Or you can directly visit the widgets’ page from here.

Step 2:- You will see an option to “create widget“. When you click, you would notice the option in the drop-down menu.

Step 4:- You would see two options, one is for the timeline and another is to add the Twitter buttons. Choose the timeline option and you will see a code and the timeline below.

Step 5:- There are a few customization options you can use. You can adjust the height and the width of the widget. You can change the color of the links.

There are two options for the background of the widget, light, and dark. The choice is yours. You can even change the language if you want.

Step 6:- Copy the code showing and paste that code in the sidebar of your website.

And bang, you have successfully added your timeline to your WordPress website.

If you face any problem with the size then you can again customize the widget using the customization options shown above.

If you have a responsive theme then you won’t need to adjust the width of the Twitter widget. But still, you should try to figure out the dimensions of your website sidebar area.

Isn’t That Easy To Display Live Tweets On a Website

You can also add any particular tweet on your WordPress post and page. The process is quite similar. You just have to pick the embed code of that tweet only.

But here, you have successfully added your full timeline on your WordPress website. Just invest one minute and you will have a nice Twitter widget in the sidebar of your website.

Now you know that it’s easy to show live tweets on a website.

  1. Hi Ravi,

That was interesting, thanks. I’d no idea you could show live Tweets without using a plugin.

We get so used to reaching for a plugin with WordPress, when there are other ways to do the same things. I imagine your method would probably be more efficient too?

    1. Hey Joy,

It’s not only you. Most of the people are dependent on the WordPress plugins. It’s always good to learn about the codes.
Here, you just have to create the code of your own Twitter profile and you would be able to show the live tweets on your website anywhere you want.
Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts.
      Enjoy the weekend.

  2. Wow, so simple and smarter. This is so far the best way to add twitter feed to website.

As this is HTML insertion, hope it works well on blogger blogs?

    1. Hey Joseph,

This is not just the HTML. A script is also included in the code which will fetch your timeline from Twitter.
I haven’t used it on Blogger, but you can try.
      Thanks for stopping by.
