Is Blogging the Right Career Choice for You in 2018
January 2nd, 2018 | by Ravi Chahar || 14 Comments |
Ever since people have started to see the pro bloggers growing, they dream about chasing their passion for writing. But not everything you dream about can come true. Is blogging the right career choice?
When you take a decision to devote your whole life to one thing which will change everything, you should think twice.
Choosing a career will transform your whole life. I have seen many people have regretted their career choice. I am sure you wouldn’t want to make the same mistake.
The blogosphere is an amazing arena of the talented people who have raised the bar to success. There are many questions which may be popping in your head right now.
And that’s right, you should learn what’s good for you. Asking a question to yourself “Is blogging the right career choice” is the first thing.
Every person is attracted to the shiny side of every working field.
Why do You Want to Pursue the Professional Blogging
Isn’t the first time you have been asked this question. Isn’t it? Well, you truly need to find out what’re the things you’re going to dig during your blogging journey.
Let me give you some choices.
- You love what you want to write about
- You want your online presence (Google Enthusiast)
- You want to build your personal brand
- You want to build a business
- You want to teach people
- Money making is the thing you really want
- All of the above
Normally, you get four options but I have elaborated a little bit. Are you confused?
If you choose the money making option, you’re wrong. That’s what everyone will say it to you. But if you think practically, eventually, you start to make a living out of blogging.
“
Money Inspires You to Work Twice as Hard as You Do for OthersClick To TweetHaving a corporate job suck, not for everyone but it does. If we leave that aside, you should consider starting with your passion to teach others, that’s also great.
What if I say every option given above is perfect?
People have the different reasons to start a WordPress blog but their success is dependent on their work quality and the pace they maintain.
According to me, it doesn’t matter why you start blogging. It’s just you decide to take an initiative, that’s what makes the difference.
I have dealt with many clients who were dreaming about starting a WordPress blog for years but couldn’t.
The Fear of Rejection Always Stop You from Chasing Your DreamsClick To TweetThis is where the conquerors are born. Living a life on your own terms is something I always recommend. Wow!!!… Don’t be so excited.
Think whether you can hold this before taking the final decision.
What it Takes to be Successful in Any Professional Working Field
Before to jump into the blogging bit of billions of blog, you should learn a few things. If you can pass this test, you will never ask “Is blogging the right career choice or not” to anyone.
#1. Are You Ready to Face the Failure
Whether you’re starting a simple blog or a Million Dollars company, the first thing is to prepare yourself for every possible bad situation.
You should know that more than 65% of the bloggers leave blogging just after a few months or 1 year.
If making a fortune out of blogging was so easy, everyone would be a millionaire today. You will see the traffic surging and suddenly Google hit you with an algorithm update and everything will change.
I am not here to scare you, it’s just what happens with most of the bloggers. I remember when I started and faced the challenges of growing BloggingLove.
I still do work hard to make it better every day. So if you have the guts to pass this phase, you’re good to start your first blog.
#2. You Know the Value of Consistency
I always say that if you can’t write regularly, you can’t achieve the goal you have dreamt about. When I say that, people start asking the questions.
- What’s the best time to publish a post
- How often should I publish
- How to drive more traffic
- What’s the best way to keep the consistency
Don’t you think you should start learning these things on your own? Having the curiosity is really good, but turning into the obsession isn’t what I would like.
The post publishing time and the frequency are different for every blog. Personally, if you can have enough time to promote your posts, you should publish every single day.
That’s what most of the popular blogs do. Check out CopyBlogger, WPBeginner, TechCrunch, and many others.
Some people prefer to post once a week. It’s up to your schedule. But if you want to do successful blogging, you have to publish more and more.
- The things you should know before starting a blog
- How much money do you need to start a WordPress blog
#3. Quality matters
Nothing is better than having a blog with the qualitative articles. You need to make sure that every blog post should be worth reading.
You should make people stay for as long as you can. Many things depend on their presence.
If we talk about a technical term, the bounce rate of your website is also dependent on your readers. People don’t want to read something which is boring.
Spark it up with your creative writing style.
“Content is King”
Everyone in this blogosphere is taught that no matter what, you should always focus on the quality. When I said publish daily, it meant without sacrificing the quality.
Is Blogging the Right Career Choice: Did You Figure this Out
If you’re still wondering if want to take blogging as a career or not then let me clear it. If you have the patience and can keep the consistency for a few years, you should definitely go for it.
But if you dream to start making money within a few months then blogging isn’t for you. It’s a long process.
People invest years and years just to make a brand name for them. Money is always a factor to focus on but not too much.
Sometimes, the quality of the article gets ruined by too much monetization. Think about it, analyze the web, read others’ content, make a strategy, and then decide.
If you still keep asking “Is blogging the right career choice” then clear your thoughts. You can also comment and share what you have in your mind.
Hi Ravi,
Wish you very happy new year. ?
I think blogging is the best career one can choose, but as you say passion matters too. If someone has a different passion or wants to blog just because it is cool, I guess they might not take that far.
Consistency also matters. I have seen you nurture and grow this blog from years, so have I done with mine. All I can say is consistency pays for itself.
I hope your guide can be a beacon for others wanting to take blogging as an career option.

Hey Swadhin,
Blogging isn’t something everyone can handle. You also have seen many people giving up after a few months. Haven’t you? But someone who truly wants to share his/her knowledge can definitely have the glory.
I have always believed that consistency can scale a blog and that’s what I recommend others. I am sure, you will have some sugar to spread.
You too have a great year ahead.

Hey Ravi,
Very good article on taking a career as Blogger.
Yeah, If making a career as a blogger then most have the curiosity for finding new articles every day and keep writing as much as possible.
This is all truth everything you say, at the starting when a blogger started their journey they can’t make money from their blog so why most of the people leave blogging journey after few months or 1 year who thinks that blog can make a huge money for them.
Only those are stick with it who the courage and future plans that we couldn’t make money at this time but we surely make money after some years and make their own brand.
So starting a blog by seeing its good side can be a wrong decision.
And it is better than to take initiation from not taking any action.
Happy blogging

Hi Ashutosh,
Not everyone can have the patience like you do. People don’t stick to the required amount of the time which can lead them to success. Every now and then the newbies complain that blogging isn’t a good career choice.
It’s because of their desire to make their first Millions of Dollars wasn’t leading to anywhere. I hope you can have what I am.
Have a great day.

Hi, Ravi!
Great tips!
I’ve been procrastinating for a few years, couldn’t start my blog because I thought that my English was bad. But finally, I came to the conclusion that it might take the whole life.
I’m planning to update my blog on a daily basis, because I have a lot of things and thoughts to share.
I hope, your blog will teach me a lot!
Hi Ravi,
Another great article. It’s good to know that many choose blogging as a career because of their passion for blogging, while others for the money. However, one must try to strike a balance in this regard.
For example, choosing a blogging career for just the passion doesn’t always work because you must pay the bills, that’s where keeping a balance comes to play.
You might choose a niche for the passion, but if the niche is not profitable, it’s certainly obvious that you might quit along the way.
More is the fact that, being consistent is ideal if you want to succeed as a blogger. Consistency doesn’t mean posting randomly, rather maintaining a certain frequency you’ve establish and create quality content regularly.
I’ve always advocated the need for being consistent in almost all my articles, why? Because consistency will help you build trust with your readers and prospective customers.
But if you’re not consistent, your site to lose your readership and customers because they will never trust you.
Please, check out my updated article as well.
Thanks so much for sharing Ravi.
Hi Ravi,
Happy New Year!
This is great advice you’re sharing here. I’m glad you mentioned that it takes time to make money. Some people think the money will start to come in right away.
Thanks for sharing! Here’s to a great 2018!
Cori
HI Ravi,
Happy New Year!
This is awesome advice for anyone who is considering starting a blog. Blogging is hard work and as you know, this isn’t my first blog. I have started several blogs in the past.
I finally started a blog that I am passionate about and that has definitely made it a lot easier to stick with it. I think that’s one of the most important things that new bloggers should consider.
It’s so tempting and easy to start a blog in a niche just because of the money. However, as you said, you’re going to need a lot of content if you’re serious about creating a successful blog.
The worst thing you can do is just chase the money. If you start a blog in a niche you’re passionate about, it will be a lot easier to write content and create your own products.
I’ve actually increased my blogging schedule this year because I want to be able to walk away from my freelancing gig. While I am not publishing new content daily, I am now posting 3 times per week.
I can’t imagine publishing content every day with my freelancing business and promoting my blog.
Thanks for sharing these tips with us. I have no doubt people who read this will be able to understand what it actually takes to build a successful blog.
Have a great day ?
Susan
Hey Ravi,
That was a great read! I personally feel that 2018, as well as the coming years, are the right time to start blogging because every offline business is now (in some way) shifting online. This provides a great opportunity for individuals like us, as we can help them in this shift!
However, this is not an easy thing to do, as it takes months to get the initial success, and most people are not that patient. It took me 2.5 years to make the first dollar from my very first blog, and that’s the example I use whenever someone asks for my help to create their first blog. Most of them are just like, nope!
I love your article, very educative. Blogging has been a passion in my blood for long, and I admire all those that have made it financially through blogging, I couldn’t start when I wanted because I was still an undergraduate, but I just realized that the best time I should have started was while in school, it could have been easily done just for fun and pleasure. But now, blogging has turned competitive in my country. Although, I’m pressing towards the mark in order to reach my desired height. Thanks for your post, you just boosted my moral.
Hello, Ravi!
Happy New Year! I hope that you would be truly enjoying the start of the new year!
And then come back to the topic, oh gosh!
This is the serious topic! And the topic which many bloggers even if they are the starter or way beyond than that, that is the dream state for them to accomplish.
But it is often overlooked that how much effort it requires to even hit a little bit of the success.
I am nowhere close to say that I am a professional blogger.
How come I can say that? Because I am not taking it as a profession for me. Because if it is a profession I would have then taken it as a business.
The blogging is equally equal to business. The real business. And the serious one of course.
It requires the time to invest to uplift the business.
For many, they want to dodge the failure and for doing that, they spend a lot of the time over the preparations and analyzing the strategies which actually result in the failure.
Yes because we need time to invest in running the blog, and blogging is something which is not like a book to just read and then apply.
It is a process. A long process that you have to improve yourself by practicing, analyzing, and with keep going.
The blogging is not a static item. It is the dynamic one.
You try and keep improving.
There’s nothing much there to hold in starting your blog.
This world is full of referencing the knowledge.Take the good advantage of google.Com to quickly understand if you are stuck on any problem.
Give blogging a good try.
Keep going.
~ Adeel
Hey Adeel,
You have been working hard to get your blog up which is a good thing. I have seen people doing nothing and blaming this blogosphere. Being in the realm of blogging for so long, I have learned so many things.
Meeting new people and sharing your experience always helps. To become a professional blogger, you just need to keep the consistency and everything will get improved with the time.
Thanks for sharing your experience.
You too have a great year ahead.

Hi Ravi,
Nice post about Blogging that Right Career Choice in 2018 ! Peoples should read this article those are interested in Blogging & something something serious in Blogging !
Hey Ravi
That was really a great read. I have seen people around me who started a WordPress blog just to earn money, not money, a lot of money. And then, after 3 months of starting a blog, they came and asked, where the hell is money? It’s been 3 months. I asked him, how many articles you have published in 3 months, he said 4.
I urged him to look for a job instead. I mean, people think, buying a domain and hosting is the only investment. What about the time you need to invest, patience, consistency, the tension of not finding the content (Lol), social pressures and what not.
I also think that introverts can become better online marketers then extroverts.
Anyway, thanks for sharing
