Things To Keep In Your Mind When You Hire A Web Designer.

No one can’t even count the number of websites running on this world wide web.

And the web designers who have designed those websites are even more in number. When it comes to redesigning or starting your new website, you would find yourself in a difficult situation.

You may want to hire a web designer who can fulfill the needs.

It can be quite overwhelming sometimes. You may search on many freelance websites or even in the social media groups.

But the hard part is to choose that one person. Are you looking for a web designer, a web developer or both?

What’s The Difference Between A Web designer And A Web developer?

Many people get confused with both the professions. A Web designer is someone who can give a proper look to your website.

The logo design, font styles, color combination and all the appearance of your website.

Whereas a web developer is someone who develops the base of the website. The structural model of your website is created by a web developer.

And there is another profession. A person who is skilled enough to handle the designing and development work.

Such types of people are perfect for you. You wouldn’t need to contact two different persons or companies to build a better-looking website.

What Are The Things You Should Ask Your Web designer?

Before you even hire someone, you should keep a few things in your mind.

The list goes like this.

#1. Ask The Info And the Background.

You can’t hire a web designer just because he/she sends an email or a message on the social media platforms.

It’s important to know who he/she is and what are the things he/she can provide to you.

You won’t end up with a person who makes you stick in between. Ask some personal and professional questions. Ask about their personal website.

The thing is that you should know that the person is trustworthy.

#2. Ask About Your Requirements.

It’s important to discuss the type of website you want. You won’t want to end up with a sissy web designer.

Whether you want a pre-bought theme or you need a custom website with all the different pages. It’s important to tell the vision you have in your mind.

Most of the people get unsatisfied because they don’t really open up with their demands.

You’re about to pay, so be frank what you really want.

#3. Ask About The Color Scheme.

The color of your website adds the value in the design. It would be great if you give your designer an idea.

Or maybe if possible he/she can show you some combinations.

The design of your website is all about what you enlighten. Discuss it according to the type of your website. For a professional website design, it’s always recommended to use two or three colors.

There are many web designs mistakes people make.

#4. Never Skip The Delivery Time.

After having all the conversation, you can’t forget to ask the delivery time.

Whether you hire a web designer or a developer, you should know the timing. It’s possible that you won’t wait till the time given by that person.

Maybe you would want to search for any other person who can design your website till the due date you give.

Though most of the web designers provide a complete website design within three to four weeks. But still, every individual has his/her own terms.

#5. Check The Communication Skills.

It’s important for you to analyze that person before you even hire him/her.

The way he/she talks and commit to the work you are going to provide. In most of the cases, people get trapped with the fake work.

Well, you should take some serious steps. Talk about his/her previous work. If possible, a portfolio would be great.

Though many web designers add the services page on their website which would be good.

#6. Ask For A Better Price.

You can hire a web designer from anywhere but when it comes to the cost, everything seems to get focused on this one point.

And it’s obvious the price should be according to you. Set the budget according to your requirements and the designer’s demand.

Suppose you can afford up to 500$ and he/she is asking for 900$ then you can negotiate. People have their own perspectives.

But keep one thing in your mind, fix the pricing at once. You wouldn’t like to have a person who increases it after every two days.

This is the most crucial point while hiring someone.

#7. Ask For More Than One Source of Contact.

It’s important for the client to know about the growth.

It would be a great idea if you have more than one way to contact that person. Nowadays, people just hire a web designer found at Facebook or any other platform and don’t see them after a few days.

You can take an email address, any social media account or directly contact through his/her personal website.

And please make sure that you’re not that curious client who sends the messages from all the sources every single day. Once a week would be great.

#8. The Token Money.

After all the price adjustments, project discussion, you should know about the money that person is going to take for starting the project.

It’s important for both of you. You can’t expect someone to work on a project until you provide a token money.

Some people take half the cost of your project.

It is dependent on person to person.

    1. Hi Amar,

The concept of a web developer and designer is far away from many people’s concepts. They don’t really get whether they are looking for a developer or a designer.

Before you even start seeking, you should have the clear thoughts about what you want and web designer should be authentic.

  3. Hi Ravi,

I’m so glad that you clarified the difference between Designer and Developer. As a Designer, I get asked to do some development work, which of course, I am unable to do. I like to be upfront with my clients about my skill level and exactly what I do as a Designer.

Your tips are spot on. ?

    1. Hey Prince,

It’s not that much hard as it seems. There are many people around you. But the basic thing is to understand the concept of a web developer and a web designer.
People make mistakes but once they hire someone, every problem gets solved.

  5. as a web designer i do understand all these things but what people do not tell you is their exact requirement. so the most important part is -document your every decision and move accordingly.

most of the time general people can not judge the complexity involve in a project and insist on price cut or ask something in a price that is beyond their budget especially indian clients.
