During the process of starting your blog, you need to take a crucial step which lets Google know about that someone has started a website.
In this tutorial, you will learn how to add your WordPress website to Google Search Console. There are thousands of guides telling you about SEO optimization.
This is the first step to growing the SEO. Google Search Console is a place which provides the full detail about your website.
From all the security checks to the errors. To drive organic traffic to your website, the first step is to submit to it.
Only after verification, you will be able to handle your site from Google Seach Console.
What Are The Ways To Add Your Site?
After the update, Google has given many options. Let me guide you.
Step 1:- Log in to Google Search Console with your Google account. You will see an option to add a property. Click on that button.
Step 2:- A Popup will be showing. Fill the URL of your website and add.
Step 3:- It will take you to a page where you will see an option to verify your website. You can either download an HTML file and upload it to the WordPress directory or use other methods.
The recommended method is to use the HTML file. Just download that file to your computer and go to the cPanel of your web hosting account.
Go to cPanel>>files>>file manager>>upload the file using the “UPLOAD” button from the navigation menu shown above.
Pick the file from your computer and upload it. After uploading, verify it by clicking on the button in the Google Search Console.
Alternate Methods.
Instead of messing up with the cPanel, you can use another method. Click on the “Alternate methods” and you will see many options.
The most effective one is to generate “HTML tag” and put it in the <head> tag of your website.
It will be a meta tag consisting the code for your website.
To add it on your website head, either you can use a plugin or add it manually in the header.php file of the theme.
After adding, click on the verify button and it will get verified.
There are many other options mentioned on the same page. If you have already installed Google Analytics on your website then the same account can be used.
Even your domain provider account can be used.
Add Your WordPress Website To Google Search Console Using Yoast SEO Plugin.
There are many users who rely on the Yoast SEO plugin for their website’s SEO.
If you also using that plugin, you would be happy to know that your website can be verified from that only.
When you use the HTML tag method, you get a <meta> tag to add in the head section of your website.
Let me give you an example of the code.
<meta name=google-site-verification” content=”verificationcode” />
You just have to code only the “verificationcode” and paste it in the plugin.
Just navigate to SEO>>Dashboard>>Webmaster Tools and paste that verification code in the Google Search Console field.
Save the settings and verify it by using the verify button from verification page from Google.
Now, you can see the growth of your website using Google Search Console.
To optimize your website for SEO, you have to add your website sitemap to Google. There are many plugins which generate it. And if you’re using Yoast SEO, no extra plugin is required.
Can you now add your WordPress website to Google Search Console?
You have seen many verification methods in this tutorial, you can use any.
Some people don’t feel comfortable with the cPanel so they can skip the first method. Adding the meta tag is easy but can be tricky.
The easiest method is to copy the code and paste it to the Yoast SEO plugin. If you use any other SEO plugin, there are other options too.

I like using the last method i.e., using Yoast plugin to add my site to Google search console. It is easier and doesn’t involve any complicated steps.
Other ways are also pretty straightforward if followed properly.
Shafi,
Yoast SEO is the plugin which saves many people getting their hands dirty with the codes and the cPanel. Just grab the ID from the Meta tag and paste it to the plugin.
