Every WordPress theme consists an option to choose the featured image for every single post.

You have seen a few websites which are developed only of the videos. Just like YouTube, people like to show the visual content.

WordPres is an awesome CMS which allows you to change everything about your website.

If your theme doesn’t have the featured image option then you can add thumbnail in WordPress theme easily.

There are a few steps to take.

Step 1:- Install and activate the Featured Video Plus plugin from the WordPress repository.

Step 2:- After installation, you will notice an extra option in the settings. Go to settings>>media and you will see the plugin settings.

From this page, you can choose the display option for the video.

Choose the size of the thumbnail and then use the video responsive option. You can also align the video. But it would depend on your WordPress theme.

You can easily adjust te settings according to you.

NOTE:- If you have changed the media setting to stop WordPress from creating multiple images from its media settings then it’s important to choose the size for the featured video from the plugin.

If you don’t then you won’t see anything. The size of the video would be nothing.

Step 3:- It supports the videos of many platforms including YouTube, Dailymotion, Vimeo.

You can adjust the settings for each of the platforms.

How Would You Add The Featured Video?

While adding a new post, just like your featured image box, you will see another box for the featured video.

You just have to copy and paste the URL of the video you want to display.

The plugin will automatically pick up the video. You can easily notice that.

After adding the video, you should set the auto featured image which will be showing as the thumbnail of the video.

If you want to add your own thumbnail image then you can. The choice is yours. But the auto option is more effective.

    1. Hi Amar,

As per my experience, this plugin is working on most of the themes. But you’re right, every theme is different so it may be some conflicts with others.
But you can try to add the featured video then just go for it.
