15000 LinkedIn Followers: My Personal Journey You Should Know About

I have always loved LinkedIn because of its professional aura. Today, I will be sharing my journey from 0 to 15000 LinkedIn followers.

In the past few years, I have come across many social media platforms but never really felt for any of those.

As I always say, you don’t need to be everywhere person. Choose your favorite social media platform and build your rock-solid authority.

In this post, I am going to share my personal experience how did I scale to this amazing figure.

People ask me how to get more and more LinkedIn followers. What’s the magic trick? Well, I don’t do fake promises.

There is no magic trick but you will learn an effective use of this lucrative platform.

How Did I Start With LinkedIn and What’s the Purpose

During my graduation, I never thought about something like this because I was just a guy with some blogging goals but never thought about building my personal brand.

You should understand that if you want to scale, you have to spread your word.

LinkedIn is the perfect social media platform for the professionals.

I started my LinkedIn profile in 2014 but never used it till the last of 2015. I wasn’t using that for any professional use.

Just used to share my blog posts and never even tried to understand the importance of having many followers.

In 2016, I was totally into LinkedIn due to its wide range of professionals.

‘LinkedIn is not Facebook and that’s what I like the most’Click To Tweet

I did a case study about the people who used to visit my blog from LinkedIn and the percentage of traffic I used to get.

I was amazed to see the results and then decided to connect with more and more people.

You can read how I gained 10000 LinkedIn followers in a few months.

What Can You Do to Gain 15000 LinkedIn Followers Like Me

The main question arises if you also want to be someone people would adore.

If the answer is yes, you would require understanding how LinkedIn works. Most of the people confuse LinkedIn with Twitter.

But it’s something on its own kind.

Let me point out some essentials things to follow.

#1. Complete Your Profile Like a Professional

You should understand that LinkedIn is a platform where professionals connect. If you want to achieve something, you should behave like one.

Add a catchy headline which can help people know about your professional skills.

I am a WordPress Professional and that’s what I have added to my LinkedIn profile. You should know that LinkedIn searching power is awesome.

People can reach you through the keywords. Suppose you add “Blogger” in your name and the headline, your profile will be more discoverable than a naked profile.

There are many other things to include.

  • Add your past work experience if any
  • Mention your best skills and write a little bit about those
  • Use a professional profile image, your face should be clearly visible

NOTE: Don’t use the kind of images you use on Facebook and Instagram.

#2. Add Media Linked to Your Work and Blog

If you’re a job seeker, you can add a Slideshare slide of your resume.

It will help you reach more potential clients. Freelance writers, developers and all can add a portfolio.

If you want to let people know about your writing skills, you can link any media of your blog or any of your best blog posts.

After the LinkedIn revamp, it’s providing some amazing features to spread the words about your work.

You know it very well that visual content always attracts.

On your profile, you can just have to add the URL of your blog posts and it will be shown as the media files so that people can reach to your blog.

#3. Maintain the Consistency at its Best

This one is my favorite. I have always considered the consistency as my best virtual work partner to get 15000 LinkedIn followers.

LinkedIn has a kind of different engagement rate than any other platform.

You can tweet every minute on Twitter and still get thousands of impressions but not in LinkedIn’s case. It’s not Twitter or Facebook.

‘Success kisses those who value consistency’Click To Tweet

You should share once in every two hours which is the best to have. Give the content for reaching to the audience.

It may sound odd to you and for some, it may be impossible. How can someone share once in every two hours?

Come on, it’s an era of the internet where many automated tools are available. Use the tools like HootSuite and Buffer.

#4. Send Invitations

I don’t think I should tell you this.

Just like Facebook, you can send connection requests to other LinkedIn users. Though if you send many requests, you would require an email address to connect with more people.

LinkedIn believes in connecting only professionals and if you try to send hundreds of connection requests, you’re not going to get the positive results.

It’s always recommended to send a few requests every day. It will help you filter the people from the list.

And the platform wouldn’t be glitchy because of you. You should understand that even LinkedIn has to maintain the user experience for all.

#5. Use the LinkedIn Pulse Platform

LinkedIn Pulse is a publishing platform where you can publish your articles. You can share your experience and expertise with your followers.

I have been using it for a long time and that’s the reason I get tons of requests every single day.

It’s more like a platform where you can re-publish your blog articles but with a little bit of twist. You shouldn’t write the whole article.

300 words are enough to make your readers curious and they will directly land on your blog. It will help you grow your blog audience and the LinkedIn network.

‘Quality always attracts the people who know its value’Click To Tweet

Be the one with the uniqueness and people will be in your followers’ list.

For more, you can read my guest post about LinkedIn marketing regarding the Pulse platform.

How Do I Connect With My Potential Clients

This is one of the biggest questions arise when someone tries to get some work from LinkedIn.

People ask me how do I get my potential clients, what’s the secret that people reach me to design and develop their websites, how can they have the same?

Well, the answer is simple.

‘Showcase your talent and people will reward you’Click To Tweet

Once in every week, I post a status to provide my professional WordPress help for free. People share their problems and I provide the best possible solution.

You may think as if why would anyone provide his/her service for free.

That’s where all the difference is made. People ask me for free help and I solve their WordPress problems and later on, those people turn out to be my clients.

‘Trust is what you need to earn to get more clients’Click To Tweet

It’s all about building human bonds. Whether you’re blogging or trying to show your social proof, you need other people to speak for you.

Are You Ready to Gain 15000 LinkedIn Followers

The question is if you’ve built your strategy or not. What are the things you are still striving about?

LinkedIn may seem to be a complicated social media platform to many but once you bathe in its shower of glory, you can never stop yourself using it.

I have connected with many influencers who offered many opportunities to join their team, working for them, writing for them.

But you know what, if you have worked enough to be your own boss, you can survive.

I have gained 15000 LinkedIn followers, which is an amazing feeling because only a few bloggers have touched this figure.

What about you? Do you also want the sugar I am having? Then what’s are you waiting for, start working and be consistent.

If you liked the article, you can connect with me on Twitter, LinkedIn, and Facebook.

  1. Congratulations on building your connections, Ravi.

If I may ask, is the traffic your receiving to your blog significant? Are you generating business as well? I find in my blog stats, very little from LinkedIn. Mine comes from Facebook and Twitter.

Would love to hear how yours is.

    B

    1. Hey Bren,

The traffic keeps fluctuating as you can’t see what’s coming. Most of my clients come through LinkedIn because of its professional environment.
And the sales I make are also using the LinkedIn platform. The traffic is dependent on your pace to maintain the consistency.
People like to read on LinkedIn and everyone craves to connect with the influencers. That’s the biggest reason I get tons of requests every day.
      Thanks for your support.

  2. It was an awesome journey Ravi. I really liked the idea of first helping the people for free and then turning them into clients. It really works and most of the big players are doing it.

    Keep sharing such awesome insights.

    Happy Blogging!! ? ?

    1. Hey Neeraj,

People have many options and if you want to attract them, you have to provide something worthy. Your services are valuable and you can use them as a weapon to convert your followers to the clients.
That’s the pure formula to follow.
      Thanks for stopping by.

  3. Hi Ravi,

First of all, congratulations on the success that you’ve had with LinkedIn. I remember, when I first started freelancing, I set up a profile on it. I didn’t do much else with it as I found it confusing and really didn’t want to spend the time learning.

You’re definitely correct, focus on one platform and learn it inside out. That’s what I am doing now. When I first started my blog, I was trying to learn Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest and use YouTube.

I’ve quickly realized that it’s impossible to grow and learn when you’re stretching yourself too thin.

Sounds like you’ve definitely got LinkedIn down and know what you’re doing.

Thanks for sharing and I am sure the next time you tell us about your journey, you’ll have a lot more followers.

    Have a great day ?

    Susan

    1. Hey Susan,

I always recommend choosing only two platforms. You should never try to fly all the way to the world. Just keep it simple and create your strategy.

I am focusing on LinkedIn and Twitter and both the platforms have come out to be amazing for me.
Choose your favorite platform and keep it going.

      Thanks for your wishes.
      Enjoy your weekend.
      ~Ravi

  4. Hi Ravi, Congratulations on this! I must tell you after you posted about LinkedIn Pulse at my blog I started to use it and I began to see a little traffic from Linked In within a week. I was very impressed with it and will try to do it at least once weekly. After all 300 words is not much to get your point across and share some valuable content there. Thanks for sharing with us all your success there Ravi. Enjoy your weekend ahead!

    1. Hey Lisa,

The Pulse platform can help you grow your blog traffic for sure. I have been using for a very long time now. Though the strategy may be different the results would be effective.
I am sure, you are going to rock it just like Twitter.
Thanks for all of your support.

  5. Hey, Ravi. That was some article.

I am pretty aware how powerful this professional platform is, but I never thought we could leverage the power to such an extent. 15000 followers, its a number… That’s where I need to improve. Mine is also same as yours, just need to add one more ZEROoo.. (1500) Haaa.

I believe it’s time I start implementing few of your strategies.

    1. Hi Nishant,

The number may be big but if you keep your pace with the quality content, you can even reach to a bigger number.
Just follow the guide and grow your followers.
      Thanks for stopping by.

  6. Hi Ravi,

I love the drive to keep sharing. And, this has kept and will keep you relevant in the online community. From your daily publishing to being very consistent and active in the Social Media. It isn’t always easy. I was even thinking if you did have a “side gig” cos your activeness scares me and in the same sense motivates me to keep doing.

LinkedIn is not a platform for those who are not ready to keep growing their business and company of friends. I believe it is a platform where professionals connect. For anyone who want to achieve something, you should behave like a professional.

After I read your blog post on how you gained over 10K LinkedIn followers and applied the steps you mentioned today I’ve grown from 50 followers to over 700, in a short while and still counting. Thank you for sharing this invaluable tips.

    ~ Prince.

    1. Hey Prince,

It’s good to know that you have grown your number from 50 to 700. Just follow the methods I used and you will have the glory in no time.

People need to see your consistent efforts and you will grow for sure. It’s all about how you connect with the people.

      Thanks for your kind words.
      Enjoy your day.
      ~Ravi

  7. Hey Ravi
That is really awesome. 15000 is a big number. With this big number, one can achieve a lot of other big numbers.
No doubt, you would only get succeed If you help people and helping people for free by a professional is another great thing. I think I should stress on LinkedIn.
Facebook and Twitter are good but if LinkedIn works, I would love to do some experiments on it.
Anyways, Thanks Ravi for sharing it. Glad to read about your success.

    1. Hi Jayant,

Free help is always appreciated. You can spread your work without any promotion. People will come to you.
Try it and you will love the positive results.
      Thanks for stopping by.

  8. Hi Ravi. Congratulations on yiur achievement on LinkedIn. I am more active on Twitter and Pinterest and hardly ever publish on LinkedIn.

Thanks for letting me know that there’s potential and I can get good clients if I am consistent with LinkedIn.

    Keep growing.

    Regards,

    Shafi Khan

    1. Hey Shafi,

It’s not necessary to use LinkedIn if you’re focusing on other platforms. The point is, if you use Twitter, do it at its best and leverage your tweets for the maximum exposure.
LinkedIn is totally different from other platforms.
      ~Ravi

  9. Hi Ravi. Congrats on the 15,000 connections on LinkedIn.

I used to use LinkedIn several years ago and for some reason I stopped using it. I went back more recently and everything looked different. I had no idea where to start. I’ve read other blog posts that suggest using Pulse but I couldn’t find any evidence of how they used it.

You are true to your word. You actually do what you say you do. I searched for you on LinkedIn and found your Pulse version of this post.

Thank you for sharing your tips for how to use LinkedIn and for actually practicing these tips in a public way so that someone like me can model them.

    I greatly appreciate it.

    1. Hey Wayne,

LinkedIn has recently revamped the whole website. Everything is new but better than ever before. You would love to see the interface.

Pulse platform can drive a lot of traffic to your blog like I have. Sharing my methods can help the people who don’t have any idea about this platform.
      Hope for the best.
      Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
      ~Ravi

  11. Hi @ Ravi! Success so Far,

I’ve been on Linkedin for a while but haven’t given it much time; this may be because of the less knowledge of how it really works.

Great, you decided to share how you made it this huge!

    1. Hey Prosper,

Keep following your milestone and you will reach your goal within a few days. LinkedIn is a new door for opportunities for freelancers, business owners and more.

  14. Hi Ravi,

Just read your post and I can confidently say thank you, it’s a terrific post. Will h what I’ve learned here I’ll have to go revisit my profile to see areas that needs to be adjusted.

The concept of taking time to focus or concentrate on one social media platform, study it very well before moving on to another is stunning. I totally agree with you, because when you get the know how of a Social media site, it puts you at the drivers seat, which simply means that you become a sort-after expert.

More is the fact that “helping others” is also a great way to gain more followers and tun them later into clients. When you help someone, you tell that person you can be trusted, and the rest is history.

The steps you outlined are incredibly awesome. Thanks for sharing your secret method.
