10 Steps For A Perfect Website Layout Which Can Stand
March 16th, 2017 | by Ravi Chahar || 6 Comments |
Website designing and development is a kind of tricky thing. I remember the mistakes I made during the designing of BloggingLove.
For a perfect website layout, you should make a proper one to one planning. There are millions of websites running on this world wide web and you can’t just copy any layout.
To create something unique, you must have an idea which can stand alone as an authority.
For a web developer, it’s important to have a plan before even execution. How can you start without a layout in your mind?
There are many things you should keep in your mind.
A guide for a perfect website layout can’t be described but still, I am going to gather a few important aspects.
#1. Planning Is Everything.
Pick up a pen and write down your ideas on a paper. It would let you have a visual idea which can help to craft something new.
At a certain point, you can find out some odds in the layout. It would be hard to alter during the process. It’s like a demo of your original layout.
#2. Maintain The Visual Content.
Make sure that you use the visual content which can attract your readers. People like sparkling designs.
You should maintain that spark to embrace the quality of the design. According to different studies, more around 80% of the people make an image with a glance.
Now it’s up to you whether you have the potential to keep those eyes glowing or not.
#3. Typography Is Everything.
The font of your website can change the whole design. Just a couple of days ago, I have changed the font of my theme and it has changed the view people are getting.
The size of the font matters a lot. The classic font size for the content is 16px. You can add Google web fonts.
Depending on the font, it may vary. Some fonts don’t really have the capacity to pop out while using 16px font size.
#4. Colors Matter.
The color combination is the major factor for the layout of a website. Most of the people make web design mistakes while choosing the colors.
To design a professional website, you should pick two colors.
If want some variations then at most three colors are allowed. And the combination should be perfect. Match the darker shade with a lighter one.
Have you gone through a black and white design? The most classic one. Just make sure, the colors match.
#5. The Upper Layout Should be Catchy.
You can’t deny the fact that people judge the design of a website after having an eye on the visible part of the website which doesn’t require scrolling.
It’s the upper layout including the header, navigation and a little part of the content.
It should be eye-catching. No readers should go back. It’s all about how you craft your design for better results.
#6. The Placement of Buttons.
Every website contains the social media buttons.
You should never forget about their position. Placing them before the content links is a great idea. Reduce the pixels and improve the chances of interaction.
Don’t just use the bigger size of the buttons which can’t have any resonation with the content.
#7. The Design of The Buttons.
The biggest mistake is when designers use the irrelevant buttons.
If you’re using a shopping button for content marketing then how would that work? Use something related like a pencil writing a few lines on the paper.
Use the tools sign for its button. Don’t just pick up anything from the prebuilt icon packs.
#8. Logo Design.
The logo is the most important things for a perfect website layout. There are thousands of guides and every one of those may contain the fact that the logo should be clean and elegant.
Don’t add many elements. Use two or three elements with the font of the logo. And if you’re creating the symbol without font then it should be related to your brand.
#9. Proper Spacing.
The most eye-catching thing is the spacing between the layout.
Whether it’s about the content, boxes or the images. It should be visible and easy to interact. People are more concern about the easiness.
Readers’ eyes are more focused on the spacing on the landing page.
#10. Guidance Is Important.
You should maintain the proper navigation for your readers. Don’t use so many categories or pages in the navigation menu.
It may confuse your readers. Always provide a link to the home page of the website. A better website needs the direct link.
Place the navigation in the header or below it to make it easily accessible.
Every web designer has his/her own thoughts but somehow these common things can’t be neglected.
It’s all about users’ experience. The more you try to make it elegant, the more will be the interaction. The design of a website is the first aspect to focus on.
Whether you’re running a blog or a company’s website, you must make sure that its easy to navigate.
What are your ideal website layout thoughts?
I have experienced the odds of the bad design and you wouldn’t like that. Bring your ideas to life only after having the surety of better results.
Do some experiments, think about new ideas, try the unique fonts.
Do you have any idea about the perfect website layout? What are you going to do with the color combination? Are you a multi-color person?

Hi Ravi
I observe there are two types of people working in any field. One is those who equally believe in power of displaying their skills while the other group believes just says quality matters and display is not as much important. So the former type of people become marketers and the latter one joins any field related to production.
But the real winner are those who believe in both; quality and then displaying it well. For that bloggers and online marketers should know all the points as you mentioned.
I like the last one that shows the significance of guidance. Howsoever great your skills are but counselling with someone else means two heads for one job.
Thanks for sharing this very informative post.
Hey Muba,
You just nailed it.
The people with the flaunting habits always try to influence others but everything gets ruined within no time. The quality providers stay for long and build their reputation in this internet world.
The counseling session is required to satisfy your clients. I have faced it a lot in my starting days.
Thanks for spreading your thoughts.
Enjoy your day.

Ravi, all valid points.
I believe design plays an important role specially if a blogger is in his/her early career. People do judge on your appearance and your blog design is your appearance in their eyes. So my suggestion to new and intermediate bloggers is that “pay attention” to the design but at the same time, don’t over-spend your energy and time on the design.
It is that fine balance to find. Thanks for your thoughts.
Hey Imran,
You’re right. People judge the quality of a website just by having a glimpse at the design. It’s important for you to keep a website with an elegant design.
Spending the potential time is required. Overdo can be harmful.
Thanks for stopping by.

Hi Ravi, I recently had mine redone and I’m playing more with the page layouts and navigation menu. I went with a cleaner look and less colors than the past site I had over 5 years. It is so important for the planning when it comes to navigation and categories. Thanks for your tips on this one! I really liked the one about 2 colors only too. Less is best now I think.
Hey Lisa,
I really liked the new design. You have revamped your website which really puts a positive impact on your readers. For navigation, I always go with the main where you show the categories.
The footer navigation is for the pages. Though it’s the matter of choice but still I prefer to keep it clean.
Yeah, the number of colors should be as minimum as possible.
Have a great day.
